The Cyberabad Police arrested Telugu star Samrat Reddy on Tuesday after his wife K Harshitha Reddy filed a police complaint against him.
The actor was accused of trespassing, theft and causing damage to her property at her wife’s flat in Nectar Gardens, Madhapur.
Harshitha accused her husband committing theft of household articles and gold ornaments, besides damaging CCTV cameras and furniture at her house here, Inspector R Kalinga Rao said.
Based on the complaint, a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 380 (theft in dwelling house) and 448 (house trespass) was registered against Reddy, the official said.
Samrat and Harshitha got married in 2015 but had been separated after the actor allegedly harassed Harshitha for dowry.
Notably, the actor was earlier booked for dowry harassment and domestic violence in 2017.
“Harshitha was staying at Samrat’s flat based on the agreement they had after they got estranged. On January 13, when she went on a vacation, he and his sister came to the flat and took away CCTV cameras and other valuables…the case was booked at Madhapur police station on January 25, a day after the court granted Samrat anticipatory bail in the dowry harassment case,” Madhapur Inspector R Kalinga Rao was quoted as saying.
Samrat was last seen in Kittu Unnadu Jagratha, which starred Raj Tarun as the male lead. Samrat’s most popular role was in Panchakshari where he played the role of Anushka Shetty’s husband. Samrat’s bail plea will be heard on Wednesday.
