Oscars remember late Om Puri, but bollywood forgets: Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Late actor Om Puri being honoured and remembered at the 89th Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on February 26, 2017, in its special segment In Memoriam was a proud moment for every Indian.

His name was included in the tribute that the Oscars made for actors lost in the past year.

Several Bollywood celebs took to Twitter to express happiness that Om Puri was remembered at the awards ceremony. But, there is someone who has a very valid point to make.

Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui lashed out at the Indian film industry for not remembering Om Puri. He took to Twitter to rightly point out how the Oscars paid homage to the late Om Puri, but Bollywood award functions couldn’t even mention his name in their 5-hour-long-something award functions.

Nawazuddin wrote, “@TheAcademy #Oscars paid homage 2 late #OmPuri, But in #bollywood award functions nobody converse single word for his contribution… SHAME.”

Om Puri who died on 6th January 2017 due to a massive heart attack at the age of 66 was also popular in the international circuit for his performances in movies like East Is East, Gandhi, City of Joy and Wolf.
